Our partnership is based upon Digium’s Asterisk VoIP telephone system, and accessories, decided by us to be the telephony core of its Omni911 Next Generation 9-1-1 product suite. Asterisk is the world’s most widely adopted open source communications software development framework. Using this framework, we have incorporated advanced Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) features and functionality into Omni911 to produce a flexible, scalable, and portable telephony solution for 9-1-1 and other industries requiring next generation telephony communications such as IP voice, text messaging, and video. Coupled with Digium telephony hardware accessories such as Digium Voice Over IP (VoIP) telephones, telephony interface cards, gateway appliances, and redundancy tools, our Omni911 with a Digium IP telephony system is an inexpensive, fully functioning Next Generation 9-1-1 communications portal.
